The Story That Led to HuntGuidePro

In November 2024, three friends and I set out on what we hoped would be the backcountry elk hunt of a lifetime. We’re all busy guys, and planning this trip hadn't been easy. There were countless outfitters out there, but no single resource to compare them. Prices, amenities, success rates—it was all a guessing game. So, like most hunters, we relied on Google searches to help us sift through dozens of individual outfitter websites.

We eventually found an outfitter in Colorado who seemed to offer what we were looking for—public land, a pack-in by horseback, a solid success rate, and a full camp setup with meals included. It looked like the real deal, so we booked it.

Let’s just say it wasn’t what we expected.

One of our guides had never even been to Colorado before. The other seemed indifferent to the entire experience. The tents were in rough shape, and the promised hot meals? They turned out to be frozen burritos, reheated over a fire—every single night. Breakfast? Only if we built our own fire and warmed up more burritos.

The hunt itself had its challenges, and in the end, none of us filled our tags. But what stuck with me most wasn’t the lack of success—it was how impossible it had been to make an informed decision in the first place.

On the long ride back, I kept thinking: Why is there no place where hunters can easily compare outfitters, hunts, prices, and amenities—all backed by real, unbiased information?

That’s when the idea for HuntGuidePro took shape. A platform built for hunters, where research comes first. No hidden commissions. No fluff. Just real data to help hunters book the right experience with confidence.
