The goal of this service exceeds that of a standard outdoor guide. Its focus is to use hunting, fishing and gathering as a vehicle to educate, conserve and reconnect people to the earth. Justin grew up in Litchfield County, CT and has always been drawn to the outdoors. Justin has studied nature at the collegiate and masters level, and holds a B.S. in Aquaculture & Fisheries from University of Rhode Island and an M.S. in Renewable Natural Resources from Louisiana State University. More importantly, he hunts and fishes at every opportunity and has been fortunate enough to do so across much of the United States. In his employment as a shellfish scientist, producer and consultant (2013-present), he studies the intricacies of changes in biota (plants & animals) depending on different seasons and environments. Specifically, how animals change their behavior and movements in relation to their surroundings. He applies the same scientific methodology and knowledge to hunting and fishing. Through careful observation and meticulous data collection, Justin can recognize trends and patterns that lead to higher success rates and more deeply connected outings. Justin lives to share his experiences and knowledge of the land with others so they can get more from their outdoor experiences. Contact Justin to learn something new and reconnect with your ancestral love and appreciation of the natural world. The opportunity to harvest these birds starts in November and goes through to January, however, their migrations through New England differ significantly and vary annually depending on climate and weather. This, ultimately, results in optimal time intervals to hunt each species. If you’re interested in harvesting a specific species, see the table below for a consensus of the Atlantic Flyway migration through southern New England for sea & diver ducks. Contact Justin on when to book your hunt and details for the best opportunity given this year’s conditions. Maximum of 3 persons per guided trip.

Deer hunts target whitetail deer during the regular firearms and archery season (‘September through December, respectively). Given the nature of deer, a side by side, one on one guided hunt is not practical. Instead, a scouting day is offered. During the scouting day, Justin and the client(s) will go through a selected area to prepare for a hunt. Hunters will learn what to look for and interpret how deer are interacting with the environment. The goal is to build a harvest strategy depending on the observations made during the scout, the time of year and upcoming weather. Reach out for more deer hunting information!
