Eastern Wild Turkey
The Eastern Wild Turkey (Meleagris gallopavo silvestris) is a captivating game bird native to Eastern North America, recognized for its distinctive iridescent plumage, long legs, and fan-like tail that can span nearly five feet wide during display. Adult males, known as toms, exhibit striking characteristics such as a beard of coarse feathers protruding from their chests, while females, or hens, are generally smaller and more subdued in coloration. When hunting Eastern Wild Turkey, enthusiasts often employ strategies that take advantage of their keen eyesight and hearing, making stealth and camouflage essential. Successful hunters utilize calls to mimic the natural sounds of turkeys, with effective techniques including the use of mouth calls and box calls during the spring breeding season when males are highly vocal and prone to respond to mating calls. Understanding the bird's habitat, behavior, and seasonal patterns is crucial for a fruitful hunt, as Eastern Wild Turkeys are known for their adaptability and intelligence, presenting both a challenge and an exhilarating experience for hunters.

You won’t find a better turkey hunting spot in Arkansas or better, more experienced callers. Flocks are seen year-round in the fields on the farm, leading their poults in and out of the woods in late spring and early summer and ranging in the fields throughout fall and winter. Gobblers are plentiful during hunting season, when they gather in mating groups.
Our guides will help you choose the best spots to hunt, and will call for you if you would like, or leave you to hunt on your own. Private access for your group on approximately 500 acres of prime hunting ground in beautiful Stone County, Arkansas. Lodging included. No high fences. No tame animals. No extra charge for trophy kills. Just authentic, fair-chase hunting of wild game in its natural Ozark Mountain habitat.
Farm land with a mixture of woods and small clearings, pastures, creeks, and ponds. Land is reserved for one group at a time. Experienced local guides are available to help make your hunt successful, safe, and enjoyable. This service includes a tour of the best hunting spots to get you set up, help with collecting and processing kills, and other advice and assistance. Turkey hunts target male turkeys during the spring season from late April to late May, respectively. Hunts scheduled in Connecticut can be half or full day hunts, while Rhode Island and Massachusetts hunts are limited to half-day morning hunts per state regulations.
During the hunt, Justin and the client(s) will actively pursue gobblers. Hunters will learn what to look for and interpret how male birds are interacting with breeding hens and using the environment. The objectives for spring turkey hunts include: understanding turkey habits and behaviors; learning location and calling methods and adapting to situational changes. We are blessed to be in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains where large populations of Eastern Wild Turkey call home. It would be a pleasure to be your host as you match your skills with these awesome birds. Our experienced guides will use all their knowledge and “tricks” to put a big gobbler within range of your gun or bow.
Seasoned turkey hunters who prefer to hunt alone are invited as well. We have exclusive hunting rights to all of our properties and will be glad to “fill you in” on the land and what the birds typically do on that particular property.
We will accommodate one group up to four hunters per week for a maximum of 3 days. Alabama toms can and will become very “educated” if they are pressured and gobbling can stop. As mentioned, minimizing hunting pressure is an ongoing management tool which ensures the best chance of success.
Our turkey land consists of bottomland hardwoods, gentle rolling hills and pastures to steep ridges and hollows. With this diversity in our hunting land, we can accommodate everyone regardless of physical condition.
We now have several properties in Georgia that extends our hunting season through the middle of May.

As one of the most underrated forms of hunting, wild turkey hunts are ideal for those looking for a challenge. One of the best places to hunt this elusive bird is in Georgia, as we have one of the largest wild turkey populations in the United States, as well as one of the longest wild turkey hunting seasons.
Woods-N-Water offers wild turkey hunts and hunting trips on our private property. Which has a very large wild turkey population, including some real “longbeards.” In fact, many of the larger gobblers will weigh between 18-24 pounds, and have 10-12 inch beards!
Our hunters typically have a 90-95% harvest opportunity rate, meaning the overwhelming majority of them go home with a trophy gobbler and memories of a lifetime!
