We are proud to offer hunting trips for the most prized big game species in North America, the desert bighorn sheep (Ovis canadensis mexicana and nelsoni). Arizona has produced numerous large rams and stands up to being the top state as a quality producer. Like all states, Arizona bighorn sheep tags are by a lottery drawing. If you are lucky enough to draw this "coveted tag," you stand a great chance of getting a record-book head. Desert big horn sheep tags are limited to such an extent that Arizona only allows each hunter one desert bighorn sheep in a lifetime. Tags may be difficult to draw, so our possible hunters are encouraged to apply each year and build points until drawn. You never know when you will draw. Some hunters draw with one bonus point, which means it is truly luck-of-the-draw!
If you have the itch for a beautiful desert ram and feel lucky enough to draw one of the "coveted tags," we have the hunt for you! Our master sheep guide, Pat Feldt and his assistants, have spent many years in the field with desert bighorn sheep and know them well. Pat is a member of the Desert Bighorn Sheep Society, has a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Biology and is very knowledgeable and experienced in locating, hunting, and judging bighorn sheep. Much of his and his assistants' spare time is spent looking for and observing sheep, whether it is just for fun or trying to video another record-book ram. Pat's many years of sheep experience has allowed hunters to harvest exceptional quality bighorn rams. Several rams harvested over the years have made the Boone and Crockett minimum.
In Arizona, you have the ability to hunt two different sub-species of desert bighorn sheep: either the heavy-horned and tight-curled Mexicana subspecies or the wide, flare-horned Nelsoni subspecies. This depends upon which area or unit you draw. The sheep in the northwest areas of Arizona from the Bill Williams River northward are classified as Nelson desert bighorn sheep. The southern area below the Bill Williams River toward the Mexican border is home to the Mexicana. We have hunted in various bighorn sheep units throughout the State of Arizona. Sheep locations within these units vary from year to year because desert bighorn rams have a very large home range. This is due mainly to the constantly changing food and water resources of the desert ecosystem. Rams also move around a lot during the late summer rut before settling down in late October or early November. Your area is scouted extensively prior to the December hunt to locate not only the best concentration of sheep, but the best rams in that area. We can often find the same rams during the hunt that were located during scouting. So, if we find a big ram during scouting in October or November, with patience, we will more than likely find him during your December hunt.

Our Alaska Dall sheep hunt takes place primarily in the historically game rich country of the Central Range east of the Alaska Denali National Park. These Alaska hunting trips are ten days in duration and begin in early August and end on the 20th of September. Alaska has long been renowned as some of the most pristine and productive Dall Sheep habitat anywhere. The Sheep population has been steady and most of the hunters get their sheep with a little luck and a whole lot of hard work! The average Alaska Dall Sheep Ram is 35-36 inches long with 13’+ bases. We do typically take several Rams a year in the 38′-40’+ range. The Alaska Range Rams are known for their wide flaring and light colored horns and make a fine addition to any hunters trophy room.
A typical Sheep hunts entail riding up and down various drainages looking for a respectable Ram to go after. We like to tell hunters that they can expect to have a 5-7 hour, fairly arduous, climb from the time they leave the horses until they pull the trigger. The guide will cape and prepare the trophy and meat for the pack back to the horses. The guide will carry all the meat (100-120 lbs.) and we expect the client to carry the trophy (35lbs. for a shoulder mt. and 65-75 lbs. for a full body mt.) back to the horses. For this reason we require the client to bring a backpack of at least 3500 cu. in. capacity. Quite often we can hunt Alaska dall sheep right out of my two main camps but on occasion we will spike out for 2-5 days looking for a respectable ram to harvest.
When we do we’ll be staying in a good quality four season mountain tent and eating freeze dried food until we can add some fresh Alaska Dall Sheep to the menu. These hunts require the hunter to be both physically fit and have the mental toughness to stay positive when mother nature and the elements may seem to be conspiring against us. The horses allow us to cover an infinite amount of country as compared to backpack hunting for the Dall Sheep. If you have the right attitude and go get it spirit I am confident we can put you on the Alaska Ram of your dreams! PRICE doesn't include a $10,000 trophy fee.

All hunts are conducted 1X1 (one guide, one client) to ensure your ultimate success. Depending on where you are hunt in the Cordova area, both client and guide are transported by the use of small aircraft the day before your hunt begins. Each Brown Bear spike camp are portable and removable to assure the best possible area to hunt. Each spike camp tent are 8’X8’ or larger and are equipped with cots and heaters for your comfort. Brown Bear country can be in a variety of areas, from 5000 foot mountain tops to the coastal areas of the North gulf coast. I have a saying, bears are where bears are, which can be everywhere.
MOOSE: (Alces Alces-Latin Name) – Alaska-Yukon Moose is the largest of the moose family, weighing in at close to 1400 pounds and over 7 feet tall at the shoulders. The Cordova, Alaska area has been known for over 30 years as one of the top places in the world for record class Moose, with some of the top SCI record class Moose coming from this area. Over the past 30 years, we have placed in the top three 26 times in Alaska’s APHA/SCI awards program. Here at the TSIU Lodge we strive in taking 60 inches or better with our largest reaching 80 inches. If someone were to ask me, what the chances are of achieving a trophy class moose, I would say, yes the genetics are there. Remember, one of my goals as your professional hunter, is for you to achieve your trophy of course. But the most important goal for me as your professional hunter, is to conduct a safe, enjoyable, most of all, memorable safari adventure.
BROWN BEAR: (Ursus Arctos- Latin Name) With the abundance of a rich food source in the Cordova area, such as Salmon, Moose, Mt Goats and unlimited sea life along the coast, the Brown Bears can reach weights of up to 1500 pounds. Here at the Cordova area, we hunt Brown Bears April through May and September through October. My guide use area near Cordova consist of several land owners, such as Chugach National Forest Service, BLM and State of Alaska lands, in which I am fully permitted for to conduct guide hunts. This guide use area that we hunt on, permits each hunter to harvest one Brown each regulatory year, which does not count against the harvest of one (l) Brown every (4) years, like in other parts of Alaska (like Kodiak Island and Alaskan Peninsula). Here at the Tsiu River Lodge we strive to take male brown bear 9 foot or larger and have taken many bears 10 foot plus over the year with many skulls over 28 plus, with some over 29 inches. Remember, one of my goals as your professional hunter, is for you to achieve your trophy of course. But the most important goal for me as your professional hunter, is to conduct a safe, enjoyable, most of all, memorable safari adventure.
MOUNTAIN GOAT: (Oreamnos Americanus-Latin Name) Cordova Mt. Goat population is one of the healthiest in the state of Alaska. With some of our horn genetics being one of the best in Alaska. Many of our clients receiving top awards each year during the APHA/SCI program for top scoring Mt. Goat trophies. In Cordova, our goals have been to work with local area biologist, in harvesting selected areas for trophies by a permit system, with intent not to over harvest and focus on Billy harvest only. We strive to harvest Billie’s 8 1/2 inches or better. Our average has been 9 inches or better in recent years, with a few in the 11 inches class. We have 2 classes of Billie’s in our area, normally Billie’s weighting in 285 to 325 pounds and then we have “Buffalo Billie’s” weighing in at nearly 400 pounds, a bigger genetics Mt. Goat.
BLACK BEAR: (Ursus Americanus- Latin Name) With plenty of food near the coastal areas of Cordova, our Black Bear have always been plentiful in the Cordova area, both during the spring and fall hunts. As always, we have goals, trying to achieve 6 foot or better, with an occasional 8 footer taken. Black Bear hunts are conducted 1X1 (one guide, one client) to ensure your ultimate success. But many times it’s a great starter hunt for the new young hunter to compatibility their parents or guardian. Depending on where you are hunt in the Cordova area, both client and guide are transported by the use of small aircraft the day before your hunt begins. Each Black Bear spike camp are portable and removable to assure the best possible area to hunt. Each spike camp tent are 8’X8’ or larger and are equipped with cots and heaters for your comfort. Again, Black Bear habitat varies from high covered snow peaks of their denning areas to the coastal grass areas near the coastal areas, during April, May and June. During the fall, most bears are hunted where berries are plentiful, either high up in the mountainous hillsides or low coastal areas where sometimes berries are thick. Once your trophy is taken, and it is then tagged, skinned and peel, the meat is quartered and packed out to the extraction point. You are welcome to take your Black Bear meat back with you, and I can direct you to a local butcher in Cordova, that can process the meat for you. If you choose not to take your Black Bear meat back with you, the meat will be donated to a local elders or local charity in Cordova, never wasted. Once the Black Bear hide and skull are back at the lodge, hide is fleshed, ears, lips, nose, tail is turned and knuckles are out, it is then salted. Trophies are normally shipped from lodge to my expeditor in Anchorage, at the end of the season.

Bighorn Sheep and Mountain Goat licenses are on a drawing basis with a preference point system, so the chances of drawing increases each year you apply. Also, the Department of Wildlife has added the new bonus point system in addition to the preference points.
We assist you in the application process which is due in April each year. We offer rifle and archery hunts with several different types of terrain and hunting methods. We take only a few Sheep and Goat hunters each year to insure you have a quality hunt.

A good time to hunt Sheep, Brown Grizzly Bears are going back and forth between salmon and berries. It's pre-rut for Moose and they'll start off in velvet and should be shedding by the end of this hunt. Moose may be taken for a trophy fee of $8500. A second Brown/Grizzly Bear may be harvested for an addition trophy fee of $6000 and second Black Bear for $750.
Rainy Pass Lodge is your well-appointed, yet rustic-luxury hunting lodge in the heart of the Alaska Range. Below are a few highlights to help you fully understand what Rainy Pass Lodge has to offer. We hunt right out of the main lodge as well as out of more remote log cabins scattered throughout hundreds of miles of untamed wilderness.
We feature fair chase hunting opportunities for multiple species. The land is so vast and untouched that there are animals here that have never seen a human before – this is the ultimate in fair chase old-world hunting. Our primary method of hunting is spot and stalk which is very successful for the type of terrain and animal habits in our area. We typically use ‘look-out’ spots to locate the game, sometimes as far away as 5-6 miles, and having horses truly makes those animals attainable. Although we usually do not have to go that far, it’s nice to have options.
We have roughly 80% repeat and referral clientele and have had the pleasure of hunting with multiple generations on many occasions. We aim to provide you with a true hunting adventure that will become a tradition as you pass down your hunting heritage to your kids and grandchildren. We will gladly provide you with a reference list for personal experiences and perspectives. E-MAIL us to request a reference list.
We like to train our guides in-house rather than hiring from an outside pool of unemployed guides as many outfitters do. This insures that we provide you with properly trained guides to meet the service standards we demand. As well as having guides that are familiar with the area, camps, horses and animals. Meet our GUIDES.
Rainy Pass Lodge is a family run operation with Steve H. Perrins II and his family working towards someday, taking over the business and carrying on the hunting traditions that Rainy Pass Lodge has established.

Depending on where you are hunting in the Cordova area, both client and guide are transported by the use of small aircraft the day before your hunt begins. Each Black Bear spike camp is portable and removable to assure the best possible area to hunt. Each spike camp tent is 8’X8’ or larger and is equipped with cots and heaters for your comfort.
Again, Black Bear habitat varies from high covered snow peaks of their denning areas to the coastal grass areas near the coastal areas during April, May, and June. During the fall, most bears are hunted where berries are plentiful, either high up in the mountainous hillsides or low coastal areas where sometimes berries are thick. Once your trophy is taken, and it is then tagged, skinned, and peeled, the meat is quartered and packed out to the extraction point. You are welcome to take your Black Bear meat back with you, and I can direct you to a local butcher in Cordova that can process the meat for you. If you choose not to take your Black Bear meat back with you, the meat will be donated to local elders or local charity in Cordova, never wasted. Once the Black Bear hide and skull are back at the lodge, the hide is fleshed, ears, lips, nose, tail is turned, and knuckles are out; it is then salted. Trophies are normally shipped from the lodge to my expeditor in Anchorage at the end of the season.

Goat hunting requires us to go up into the mountains of Baranof Island where the goats live. It is definitely more strenuous than a bear hunt, but the views, and the experience, are well worth it!
Mountain Goat hunts are conducted in October and we will be camping at an altitude of around 3,000 feet. So hunters should expect to encounter some chilly temperatures during the hunt. Layered clothing appropriate for both hiking and extended periods glassing for goats will definitely be required, as will comfortable, and well broken in hiking boots. Time will be spent glassing for the right goat that is in an accessible location, both for the harvest, and the retrieval.

This year again Colorado will offer a Non-Resident Desert Sheep Permit. It will be available in the regular April drawing. There are no preference points awarded so it is a wide open draw. This will be a great chance for you to get a very coveted tag.
The area where the hunt will be is where the original transplant of Desert Sheep in Colorado took place in the 1970’s. The first hunt for Desert Sheep in Colorado was in 1989, with 2 tags being awarded, and Chris Cassidy was lucky enough to draw one and finish his Grand Slam with a Colorado Desert Sheep. This area is located close to where we live and we are very familiar with the sheep and where they live. If you are interested in more information and applying for this permit please contact us soon. The deadline is the first Tuesday in April each year.

Mountain Goats can be hunted across many locations in North America, but hunting these magnificent animals in the ice fjords of Southeast Alaska is in a class by itself. Whether it be the terrain, the weather, or the challenge of hunting these sure footed monarchs on their own rugged turf, a winter hunt for mountain goats will imprint memories of adventure that will surely last a lifetime.
Our goat hunts are conducted in November, which helps to ensure the trophy and hair quality is at its peak. These handsome animals will sport extended pantaloons, a flowing beard, long ebony horns, and an overall striking appearance that will sure to be the crown jewel of accomplishment in any hunters trophy room.
The size of a mountain goats horns are largely determined by the genetic makeup of that particular population, and fortunately for our hunters, Southeast Alaska holds some of the greatest genetic potential for any mountain goat population in North America. The largest of our Billies average over 9 inches, with an exceptional goat over 10 inches long with 6 inch bases being taken almost every year.
The terrain and topography in our hunting area is also very distinct from your more traditional goat hunting locations. Our hunts take place in the ice filled glacial fjords of southeast Alaska which provides a stunningly picturesque backdrop for your mountain hunting adventure. As the glaciers receded from the last ice age over the last 25,000 years, the subsequent geologic forces created deep glacial fjords with imposing mountains that rise near vertical out of the water. These forces served the effect of creating alpine conditions from sea level and upward. Therefore, the billy goats we will be hunting range from sea level and upwards of 2000 feet elevation, occasionally providing the opportunity to harvest a goat with a minimal amount of climbing.
While the majority of goat hunts in North America are conducted via tent and backpack, a hunt with Glacier Guides offers the extraordinary experience of the Alaskan Grandeur, our 78 foot luxury yacht serving as our basecamp. Each day, we will hunt from 18 foot skiffs to travel to the hunting area in search of a suitable Billy, via the spot and stalk method. Climbing is typically required to ensure success, with shots ranging from 150-400 yards.

Fees do not include your license, big game tags, transportation round trip to Rainy Pass Lodge (at this time $1200 per person & subject to change), hotel accommodations, before, during, or after the hunt, or gratuities. Weather permitting you will be flown to the lodge the day before your hunt and you will leave the lodge the day after your hunt.
We welcome your non-hunting guests along to photograph, video, or just tag along to share in your hunt. We do have limited accommodations for this and it must be arranged ahead of time. The cost for a non-hunting guest is $8,500.

Bighorn Sheep and Mountain Goat licenses are on a drawing basis with a preference point system, so the chances of drawing increases each year you apply. Also the Department of Wildlife has added the new bonus point system in addition to the preference points.
We assist you in the application process which is due in April each year. We offer rifle and archery hunts with several different types of terrain and hunting methods. We take only a few Sheep and Goat hunters each year to insure you have a quality hunt.
