Morning Alligator Hunts typically start around 9:00 am on our private water hunts and around 6:30 am on public water hunts. The length of the hunt depends on where we are hunting, the number and size gator(s) you are after. A rough average would be 3 to 4 hours for a gator hunt. We can cater to your hunt to the experience you are looking for. **We transport your Gator(s) to the processor and taxidermist so you don’t have to. **Have your hunt filmed and take home a DVD for you to share with family and friends. A DVD of your hunt is available for $200 and well worth it! The time frame for our hunts is no different than a late dinner or an early morning fishing trip. Our hunts normally start out between 9-10 a.m unless otherwise scheduled to take place earlier/later. Upon arrival we will meet up with you and discuss what size gator you're after, and make sure each person participating in the hunt has obtained the proper licensing needed. After going over the details of the hunt and getting each participants waiver signed, we then head out to do a spot-and-stalk type hunt.
We will be hunting by foot and using 4x4 side by sides to hunt from. Once we have located the right size gator you‘re after we’ll use offshore style fishing rods to snag the gator with a treble hook, and hand the rod off the hunter to fight the gator up to the bank. From there on out it is up to you to collect your trophy by using a bangstick, handgun, bow, etc. to take the gator. Once the hunt is finished we will be sure to take plenty of pictures, bring the kills back to our processing facility, and discuss taxidermy options.
Gator hunts have a base price of $900 for a 6-7' gator, but then increase based on the size: $1,200 for 7-8', $1,500 for 8-9', $2,250 for 9-10', $3,570 for 10-11', $6,500 for 11-12', $10,000 for 12-12.5', $12,500 for 12.5-13', and $15,000 for 13'+. Non–hunter member add ons: If people in your party/group are not going to participate in the hunt, they do not need any license or permit. All spectators are welcome to come along on your Townsend & Sons hunt free of charge. However, if they are 16 years old or older and would like to help you hunt alligators, they will also need to purchase the $51.50 Alligator Farming Agent License. Youth, ages 15 and younger, do not need an Agent License to assist in Alligator hunting.
What to Wear: We recommend wearing a lightweight short or long sleeve shirt, close-toed shoes, and long pants. We leave it totally up to you to wear what you will feel you most comfortable in. It's not necessary to wear camouflage, but we typically wear neutral or earth toned colors (green, brown, black, etc.) If you are sensitive to the sun we recommend wearing a hat, as well as sunscreen. Bug spray is always a great idea as we never seem to have a shortage of bugs here in south Florida!

Everglades Adventures alligator hunts are conducted exclusively on large private lands in South Florida, ensuring a fair chase experience. We do not hunt behind fences or within enclosures, and we never use alligators caught in the wild and placed for hunters. Our hunts are all free-range, meaning we only target wild alligators on open lands. Additionally, we do not use drugs or refrigerants to make the alligators lethargic.
Our hunts employ advanced methods and equipment to ensure effectiveness and safety. The single day alligator hunts are a little more laid back than the multi-night boat hunts. The alligator hunts in Florida are primarily done during the day in lakes or ponds. A crossbow, regular bow, gun, fishing pole, or baited hook is the primary method of harvesting gators on this type of hunt. If you are a first time alligator hunter a day hunt may be a good option. The thrill of seeing alligators in the light of day is something all first time hunters should experience. Day hunts are a little less intense as well. You will scan the Florida swamps by boat and when a gator is spotted we will attempt to snag it – that’s when the fight begins.
Once the gator is snagged you will have the opportunity to harvest it with your weapon of choice. Rifle hunts allow for longer shots, 25 to 30 yards, and archery, spear or other methods require getting a little closer. God's Country rifle gator hunts are only available on private land day hunts. This is a great option as rifles allow the hunter the opportunity for longer kill shots. Many hunters will choose to bring multiple weapons on the hunt, the way a hunt unfolds may dictate which weapon is used in the kill shot on the alligator.
When you contact us about planning your hunt we will answer questions and give advice to help you choose the best weapon options to make your Florida gator hunt exciting and successful! As with any hunt, an archery hunt is much more challenging for Florida alligators than some of the other weapon options. Bow hunters will need to be experienced to be successful with this hunt. Shot distances are usually pretty short with archery hunts but a clean shot is necessary whether it’s a night or day alligator hunt. A 60 lb. draw is sufficient and you will need a fishing rig attachment. We recommend practicing precise short shots prior to your hunt.
