Northern Idaho has excellent mountain lion (cougar) hunting, and Shattuck Creek is here to facilitate the perfect hunt for you. Since these hunts will take place in the winter, you'll be staying at our hunting lodge where you'll enjoy first-class accommodations and homecooked meals.
From December to March, we run snowmobiles, trucks, and hounds to find the perfect trophy mountain lion for our hunters. Brown Bear hunting in Alaska is often considered the pinnacle of the North American hunting experience. While embarking on a brown bear hunt with Glacier Guides, you will be hunting the renowned ‘ABC’ Islands for one of the most unique populations of Brown Bear in the world. Our hunts take place in both the spring and fall, with each respective season providing a unique experience in the style and method of hunting. The Alaskan Grandeur, our custom built and designed adventure yacht will serve as base camp, while access to the hunting grounds is done via 18 foot powered skiffs.
Admiralty, Baranof, and Chichagof are the three islands that comprise the ‘ABC’ Islands of Southeast Alaska. Located at the northern end of the Alexander Archipelago, these three islands are home to one of the most distinctive and unique brown bear populations in North America, let alone the world. A must hunt for the most discriminating of sportsmen, the ‘ABC’ Brown Bears show an ancestral lineage more closely related to polar bears as opposed to the typical Alaskan Brown Bear. These islands are also home to the Tongass National Forest, the largest national forest in the United States and one of the last remaining intact temperate rain forests in the entire world. Encompassing 17 million acres, the Tongass with its diverse ecology and geographic features provides one of the most breathtaking and stunning environments for a sportsman’s adventure of a lifetime.
A fall Brown Bear hunt with Glacier Guides generally consists of 10 hunting days to take place in September and October. These hunts occur amongst the many streams and rivers where the salmon are actively spawning, drawing the bears to congregate and feed as they prepare for their winter hibernation. The opportunity to view and hunt these bears as they fish for salmon provides a very unique and exhilarating hunting experience. Our custom Yacht, the Alaskan Grandeur, serves as base camp while access to the streams and estuaries is conducted via 18 foot powered skiffs. The style of hunting involves hiking up the respective streams, still hunting along the way and sitting over the many fishing holes being used by the bears. This is a very unique method of hunting as you will be completely immersed in the midst of the Tongass old growth rain forest, also known as the Fortress of the Bears – Kootznoowoo – by the local Tlingit Indians. Hunters should be able to walk upwards of two miles in chest waders, with the terrain consisting of slick, moss covered rocks, logs, trees, and uneven undulating ground. The hunting is generally in very close quarters with the bears, with shots often coming inside of 50 yards. A hunter should be well versed and practiced in various shooting positions, to include sitting, off hand, and prone.

By now you have probably seen thermal hog hunting videos of a group of gunners all in a line in a large agricultural field sighting in on a large group of hogs in front of them. If this is a hunt you’ve always wanted to do but have never tried, you’ve found the right place. The Gopher Plantation hog hunting guides have fine-tuned their thermal hunts to guarantee an opportunity at free-range hogs every hunt.
We conduct all of our thermal hog hunts on over 10,000 privately owned acres. We not only hunt the agricultural fields we also hunt in the woods over our feed sources and food plots. The Gopher Plantation staff plants over 200 acres of food plots for wildlife. Not only do our deer and turkey benefit from this but also our wild hog population. It’s not uncommon to find 4-6 groups of hogs on a 3-hour thermal hunt with us all while literally hunting out of our back door. You can add hours to your thermal hog hunt and increase the shooting opportunities.
If you don’t have any thermal equipment for hog hunting at night, no problem we have you covered. We have 10 guns set up with Pulsar thermal scopes and suppressors at your disposal. The guides also have 3 sets of Pulsar thermal binoculars to spot hogs throughout your hunt. We also provide shooting sticks, snacks, and a cooler with drinks so literally all you have to do is show up. If you have your own thermal night hunting equipment or have picked up some new toys and need a place to use them, feel free to bring them on your hunt as well.

Mountain Goats can be hunted across many locations in North America, but hunting these magnificent animals in the ice fjords of Southeast Alaska is in a class by itself. Whether it be the terrain, the weather, or the challenge of hunting these sure footed monarchs on their own rugged turf, a winter hunt for mountain goats will imprint memories of adventure that will surely last a lifetime.
Our goat hunts are conducted in November, which helps to ensure the trophy and hair quality is at its peak. These handsome animals will sport extended pantaloons, a flowing beard, long ebony horns, and an overall striking appearance that will sure to be the crown jewel of accomplishment in any hunters trophy room.
The size of a mountain goats horns are largely determined by the genetic makeup of that particular population, and fortunately for our hunters, Southeast Alaska holds some of the greatest genetic potential for any mountain goat population in North America. The largest of our Billies average over 9 inches, with an exceptional goat over 10 inches long with 6 inch bases being taken almost every year.
The terrain and topography in our hunting area is also very distinct from your more traditional goat hunting locations. Our hunts take place in the ice filled glacial fjords of southeast Alaska which provides a stunningly picturesque backdrop for your mountain hunting adventure. As the glaciers receded from the last ice age over the last 25,000 years, the subsequent geologic forces created deep glacial fjords with imposing mountains that rise near vertical out of the water. These forces served the effect of creating alpine conditions from sea level and upward. Therefore, the billy goats we will be hunting range from sea level and upwards of 2000 feet elevation, occasionally providing the opportunity to harvest a goat with a minimal amount of climbing.
While the majority of goat hunts in North America are conducted via tent and backpack, a hunt with Glacier Guides offers the extraordinary experience of the Alaskan Grandeur, our 78 foot luxury yacht serving as our basecamp. Each day, we will hunt from 18 foot skiffs to travel to the hunting area in search of a suitable Billy, via the spot and stalk method. Climbing is typically required to ensure success, with shots ranging from 150-400 yards.

Deer hunting consists of hunting in our 700-acre trophy managed high fence preserve. We specialize in natural game and wildlife management. Our whitetail hunts are not garnered; however we do have a very high success rate and are scouting constantly to insure your hunt is successful. If for some reason you do not harvest a deer, we only charge a nightly rate of $375 for your stay and all Lodge amenities. We try our best to recover all wounded deer. Wounded and non recovered deer count as a fallen deer so we encourage use of our rifle range as well and are happy to give assistance and tips in shooting your dream whitetail.
Gourmet Dining: With a mixture of locally sourced and always of the highest and freshest quality, our chef combines a field-to-table philosophy with traditional fine dining and southern flare. We’re very proud to say that we have a team of professional snake-hunting dogs to track and capture pythons in the Everglades. These snakes are hard to find and make their nests even harder to find. Our dog’s ability to track these reptiles by scent and locate nests has changed the game. Together we found more python nests than every other python hunter combined last season.
Unlike other python hunters, we're not taking y'all on a trip in the cab of a truck looking for snakes along roadsides and levies. We're loading up the dogs and taking the boat out to the middle of nowhere to the "Python Islands" to find snakes and their nests deep in the wilds of the Florida Everglades.
The python islands of the Everglades offer some of the hardest hunting available. The thick vegetation and brutal bugs are just the first things you'll need to think about. You've got to watch your back for alligators and watch your step for water moccasins. Hunting these islands is not for the faint of heart and that's where our team of professional python hunting guides comes in.

The single day alligator hunts are a little more laid back than the multi-night boat hunts. The alligator hunts in Florida are primarily done during the day in lakes or ponds. A crossbow, regular bow, gun, fishing pole, or baited hook is the primary method of harvesting gators on this type of hunt. If you are a first time alligator hunter a day hunt may be a good option. The thrill of seeing alligators in the light of day is something all first time hunters should experience. Day hunts are a little less intense as well. You will scan the Florida swamps by boat and when a gator is spotted we will attempt to snag it – that’s when the fight begins.
Once the gator is snagged you will have the opportunity to harvest it with your weapon of choice. Rifle hunts allow for longer shots, 25 to 30 yards, and archery, spear or other methods require getting a little closer. God's Country rifle gator hunts are only available on private land day hunts. This is a great option as rifles allow the hunter the opportunity for longer kill shots. Many hunters will choose to bring multiple weapons on the hunt, the way a hunt unfolds may dictate which weapon is used in the kill shot on the alligator.
When you contact us about planning your hunt we will answer questions and give advice to help you choose the best weapon options to make your Florida gator hunt exciting and successful! As with any hunt, an archery hunt is much more challenging for Florida alligators than some of the other weapon options. Bow hunters will need to be experienced to be successful with this hunt. Shot distances are usually pretty short with archery hunts but a clean shot is necessary whether it’s a night or day alligator hunt. A 60 lb. draw is sufficient and you will need a fishing rig attachment. We recommend practicing precise short shots prior to your hunt.

Our outfit is pleased to offer quality hunting trips for the Coues Whitetailed Deer in southern Arizona near Tucson. The Coues Deer is considered one of the most prized and most challenging deer species for North American trophy hunters. This petite deer is the smallest huntable sub-species of the whitetailed deer and weighs between 70 - 100 lbs. dressed out. Mature bucks normally have 8 total points on the rack. The minimum Coues deer score for Pope and Young is 70 inches and the minimum score for Boone and Crockett is 110 inches. The Coues Whitetail is classified under a separate category in all record books because of its small, tight rack. Even the World's Record typical Coues deer (144-1/8" B&C taken by Ed Stockwell in 1953) would not make it into the Boone and Crockett book if scored and categorized under the Eastern whitetail standards.
That is the reason for the separate category for this unique deer species. Hunters that have taken all the species in the "deer slam" usually consider the Coues deer one of the most rewarding and most beautiful trophies. Our Coues hunts are conducted in the vast, rugged desert mountains of southeastern Arizona, with Tucson being the closest major city. The hunting technique for Coues deer involves choosing a good vantage point and spending hours glassing through high-powered binoculars and spotting scopes. The Coues bucks may be spotted over a mile away. Once a trophy Coues buck is located, the spot and stalk method is used to get within shooting range.
The canyons where Coues deer live are usually big and open. Rifle hunters should be prepared for shooting distances from 200 yards to 500 yards, if the need arises. Bow hunters typically take shots at ranges from 30 to 60 yards, since it is really open terrain. Because of the topography, high-powered riflescopes on top of lightweight flat-shooting rifles with a bipod are a "must have." Recommended rifle calibers are the .25-06 up to .300 Magnums. We do not recommend smaller calibers. Rifle season hunts are conducted during three timeframes, which are: late October, early November, and late December. Our Archery Coues hunts are conducted during the month of January when they are in full rut.
SUCCESS RATES: We are proud to say that many of our rifle Coues seasons have ended with a 100% success rate! Nearly all of our past Coues hunters have been presented with opportunity.

We raise hundreds of "buddy ducks" in our sanctuary every year to mix with our local population. Members have full access to lodge 24/7, and the ability to Dove Hunt on our sunflower field. Our waterfowl area consists of blind locations on the creeks, fields, and ponds. 2025 waterfowl membership $3,300 which includes 2 guest fees during the season. If members want a guide, book no later than 3pm the day prior by texting Ford Downes. The guide drives you to the blind, lays out the decoys and calls them in for you. Mule deer hunting in Southern Arizona can provide a great opportunity for the first-time mule deer hunter or the hunter wanting a true desert mule deer to complete their slam. If you need your desert mule deer for the slam, this is a very unique and exciting hunting experience amongst desert terrain.
Although there is potential to harvest bucks with larger racks, the mature Arizona desert mule deer bucks that we typically harvest in our hunt areas have racks from 18 to 25 inches wide and have 3 to 5 points per side. Considering this is the desert, deer densities cannot be high in such a dry environment. But, our guides have mastered the techniques and have done their scouting homework so that our hunters can see a significant number of deer, again, considering it is the desert. Our hunting style is the spot and stalk method.
We hike to a good vantage point where a couple square miles can be seen at one time. Most of our mule deer hunting is done with our eyes through tripod-mounted optics. Once a good mule deer buck is spotted, we make our move from the vantage point for the final stalk. The terrain is very open, therefore rifle shots are usually over 300 yards and archery shots might exceed 50 yards. There may be a great deal of hiking involved, so hunters are encouraged to condition themselves to the best of their ability before arriving. The acres your hunt will take place on are very strictly managed. South Fork hunters are required to harvest at minimum 140 inch, 3 ½ year old bucks. Having these practices in place for years has only made a good thing that much better. In addition to the doe’s that our hunters harvest, we take heard surveys that enable us to go through late season and remove doe’s in highly populated areas. As a whole – the areas you will be hunting have an excellent doe-to-buck ratio (2 or 3-to-1). Hunter to acre ratio is also very important. Low pressure is a huge part of harvesting mid-west whitetail deer. Here at South Fork, we keep ample ground for the numbers of hunters we run, with some farms not being hunted for entire seasons. This is all to ensure South Fork ground will remain the best of the best.
We take stand location very seriously. This is crucial when getting close to giant Illinois bruisers. The wind and thermals are taken into consideration on every set. The stand set ups are for stealth entry and exits. Stand location is one of the biggest keys to a successful hunt- second only to having a piece of great managed whitetail ground. All stands are set by South Fork Guides that have years of experience and the bucks to prove it! The rule of thumb we live by is “if we wouldn’t hunt it, we won’t hang it!” We are as excited to get you into the stand that we hung, as you are to be in it. It’s like we are hunting with you. Centrally located between the huge tidal marshes of southern New Jersey and endless cornfields of Maryland’s Eastern Shore, Delaware winters close to 500,000 snow geese annually. Delaware is home to two major snow geese roosts- the 16,000 acre Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge (Kent County) and the 9,900 acre Prime Hook Nationals Wildlife refuge. (Sussex County) Combined these refuges host over 400,000 snow geese each fall. Both refuges provide large fresh water impoundments and tidal marshes for snow geese.
We currently lease over 30 farms in Kent and Sussex county. We have farms covering a large area both close to and farther inland from the refuges. Since we have hunted these areas for over twenty years, we have leased only the best farms used by wintering snow geese.
Snow goose hunting requires a huge amount of decoys. We use mostly full bodies and some silo socks. More so than any other waterfowl, huge spreads of decoys are an important part to harvest snow geese. Being on the ‘X” is most important but we have had a lot of good hunts (25-50 birds) just getting under the birds and hunting traffic. 200 decoys was deadly ten years ago but today 1500 – 2000 decoys are needed for those same results.
Your guide will meet you at the hotel or at an assigned place at an assigned time. From the hotel you will follow your guide to the farm. Have your snacks, coffee, and refreshments ready for your morning hunt as we will not be stopping at a convenience store. Everyone will help in setting up the decoy spread. The guide calls all the shots. At the end of the hunt, everyone helps picking up the decoys.

Hunting the marshes and swamps of Lake Okeechobee for ducks is an experience in itself. Not only do we hunt on the famous Lake Okeechobee, we also hunt various public water lakes and rivers as well as private land. On our private waters, we hunt a mixture of swamps on private ranches and big reservoirs on dairies. We chase the ducks so each hunt could be in a different location.
On day one we might run the airboat in the shallow marshes of Lake Okeechobee. We invite you to hunt with us on our well managed elk ranch that totals around 10,000 acres. Our properties are nestled into the foothills of the crazy mountains which are located in central Montana. Our goal is to limit the number of hunters we take which decreases pressure and increases success. Hunt tactics include a mixture of ground blinds, calling, and spot and stalk hunting.
While it is possible to access the property by vehicle, we try to minimize disturbance by utilizing horses and hiking when possible. Trophy potential varies depending on a number of factors including time of year, temperature, weather patterns etc. but most hunters have a chance at 5x5 and 6x6 bulls. We would classify this ranch as having moderate terrain as far as elk country is concerned. This means that you don’t have to climb thousands of feet every day to reach the elk. However, it is still elk country and the ranch is over 6000’ in elevation.
It is for this reason that we ask all hunters to make sure they show up in good physical condition. You will have more fun and your odds of success only increase by being in good shape. Our camp is situated in the heart of some of the best brown bear hunting in the world. Due to our location on the coast of southwest Alaska, and the fact the mountain range in which these giant brown bears den for the winter is only 75 miles away, many bears congregate here. The land we hunt is rich in sea life, allowing these Alaskan brown bears to gorge themselves six months out of the year and grow to immense size.
The hunting is done from tented spike camps, where ground is covered on ATVs and by boat. Spotting game, then stalking in for a shot, is the norm. Moose are often called in during the rut.
Bring hip or chest waders that you can walk in all day, every day, as that’s the most efficient way to comfortably cover ground. Mud and water dominate the lowland tidal flats and tundra that we hunt. Wolves, wolverine, red fox, ptarmigan, ducks and geese are often taken as bonus species by many of our hunters.

While turkey hunting and elk hunting have some similarities in calling and habitat, there are significant differences, especially in how turkeys respond to movement and calling, making turkey hunting a more challenging and mentally demanding experience.
Your Merriam's turkey hunt of a lifetime may take place on either public or private land. With the abundance of turkeys available, you can expect plenty of action each day of your hunt. You can choose to hunt by sitting in one of our man-made blinds or by utilizing spot and stalk techniques. We will employ various calling methods, including yelping, clucking, purring, cackling, and more, to attract the birds. If you have experience with calling, you're welcome to call in your own bird.
The key to a successful turkey hunt is thorough scouting and a good understanding of the terrain. Our experienced guides know where the birds are roosting and their likely travel routes throughout the day. There are few things that rival the excitement of hunting elk during the month of September. The bugle is a sound you’ll remember for the rest of your life. We are fortunate to have access to some of the best archery elk hunting in the state of Wyoming. Archery elk hunts begin around the second week of September and go through the end of the month.
There isn’t a better archery hunt in North America than hunting rutting elk. Arizona is our bread and butter. It’s where we started, where we live, train, and scout the most. Our Arizona upland hunts are primarily based in Southern Arizona and we focus on the three species of quail located there - Gambels, Scaled, and Mearns quail.
We also conduct some hunts in northern and central Arizona as requested, but those are only for Gambels quail. We will recommend a lodging location based on the species you desire to hunt. Arizona is our home turf. All of our guides are local to the area and know this quail country extremely well. We spend more time scouting and finding new pockets of birds than any other service in the area. Our Arizona quail hunts are second to none.

We hunt different times of day depending on the type of adventure you are looking for, the particular body of water we are hunting, the weather, etc. Ultimately we can hunt any time of day to accommodate your needs. Morning Alligator Hunts typically start around 9:00 am on our private water hunts and around 6:30 am on Public water hunts. This is a unique hunt on private land where hunts are conducted out of 4x4 trucks, making it feasible for elderly folks or difficulty walking.
We have been operating out of our Candy Dan Camp for over 25 years. Constructed on the private ranch we hunt, located some 65 miles south of Great Falls. Our base camp consists of a newly constructed cook house built in 2013, equipped with a full kitchen, buffet table, couches, hot and cold water, and a custom dining table for up to 12 hunters, three cabins for sleeping quarters for the hunters, a sauna house, and sleeping quarters for the guides. Camp is equipped with propane heat, electricity in all cabins, electricity, full shower/sauna, and WIFI!
Our antelope hunts are conducted in the month of October on our private leases. The antelope herds are healthy and growing. Trophy bucks in our area average 13-14″ with 15″ a possibility. Antelope hunts are done in the traditional spot and stalk. This hunt is great for kids and families as there is usually lots of action, spotting, stalking, shooting.

Guide: You will be hunting with an experienced guide each day.

Lodging: We have a beautiful camp set into the heart of the Western badlands, if hunting 1x1 you will have a tent to yourself or if coming with a partner you will be two in a tent. We provide all the bedding you will need. Pack as if you were staying in a hotel.
Meat and Trophy Preparation: Your guide will get your animal back to camp for you and prepare the meat for transport or take it to a local meat processor of your choice. We will prep your trophy for transport or take it to our preferred taxidermist. *All fees associated with meat processing and taxidermy are your responsibility.
Additional Opportunities: If you tag out you have the option of shooting prairie dogs near camp if the weather cooperates. We have equipment for you to use and this activity is free of charge with the exception that you will be charged for ammo used. Pronghorn are found through the state but the quality of these bucks are located in the northern & eastern part of the state. Our most productive method of hunting these unique animals is Spot and Stock. On this particular hunt we spend a great deal of time glassing, trying to locate the buck of your choice.
The key to harvesting a quality buck on these hunts is the preseason scouting with the addition and the ability to accurately field judge these bucks correctly. We hunt the open country, cedar flats, and the tall pines of northern & eastern Arizona, so long distance shooting is a must. It is not uncommon to take rifle shots over 400 yards on a antelope. We recommend a flat shooting rifle cartridge, a good high-power rifle scope and a mounted bi-pod, or a tall standing tripod. The spot and stalk hunting methods are mainly used for our rifle and muzzleloader hunts.

The methods we use to hunt squirrels is to walk the woods quietly while scanning about, often seeing them jump from tree to tree. Or to sit down underneath a decadent oak and wait for the squirrels to lose caution and show themselves. We prefer to head shoot the squirrels with a rimfire rifle. Shotguns are equally as effective, but more damaging to the meat.

The acres your hunt will take place on are very strictly managed. South Fork hunters are required to harvest at minimum 140 inch, 3 ½ year old bucks. Having these practices in place for years has only made a good thing that much better. In addition to the doe’s that our hunters harvest, we take heard surveys that enable us to go through late season and remove doe’s in highly populated areas. As a whole – the areas you will be hunting have an excellent doe-to-buck ratio (2 or 3-to-1). Hunter to acre ratio is also very important. Low pressure is a huge part of harvesting mid-west whitetail deer. Here at South Fork, we keep ample ground for the numbers of hunters we run, with some farms not being hunted for entire seasons. This is all to ensure South Fork ground will remain the best of the best.
We take stand location very seriously. This is crucial when getting close to giant Illinois bruisers. The wind and thermals are taken into consideration on every set. The stand set ups are for stealth entry and exits. Stand location is one of the biggest keys to a successful hunt- second only to having a piece of great managed whitetail ground. All stands are set by South Fork Guides that have years of experience and the bucks to prove it! The rule of thumb we live by is “if we wouldn’t hunt it, we won’t hang it!” We are as excited to get you into the stand that we hung, as you are to be in it. It’s like we are hunting with you. Our sets consist of hang–on’s with climbing sticks (20′-25′); ladder stands (16′-20′); shooting houses (7′-10′); and assorted ground blinds. We utilize over 70+ Shadowhunter Blinds to provide our gun hunters with a comfortable and solid shooting setup. We put you up close and personal, it’s just a matter of time before a big shooter reveals himself.

The average bull scores 300+ inches up to 400 inches depending on time frame of the season and unit. These are among the most rugged Montana elk hunts, and we often describe them as “extreme” hunts. Our hunts are guided in the Bob Marshall Wilderness and Swan Valley areas of Montana off of horseback. Our guides and horses have been preparing and getting shape all summer long on backcountry pack trips; elk season is what they’ve been waiting for!

All Brown Bear hunts are conducted 1X1 (one guide, one client) to ensure your ultimate success. Depending on where you are hunt in the Cordova area, both client and guide are transported by the use of small aircraft the day before your hunt begins. Each Brown Bear spike camp are portable and removable to assure the best possible area to hunt. Each spike camp tent are 8’X8’ or larger and are equipped with cots and heaters for your comfort. Brown Bear country can be in a variety of areas, from 5000 foot mountain tops to the coastal areas of the North gulf coast. I have a saying, bears are where bears are, which can be everywhere.
Once your trophy is taken, it is tagged, skinned peeled and then packed out to the extraction point. Once Brown Bear hide and skull are back at the lodge, it is fleshed, ears and lips are turned, along with knuckles and tail out, it is than salted. Trophies are normally shipped from lodge to my expeditor in Anchorage, at the end of my spring season. With the abundance of a rich food source at the Tsiu, the Brown Bears naturally grow big. We have taken many 10 foot plus bears over the year with many skulls over 28 plus. At the Tsiu, we hunt Brown Bears April through May and September through October. The Tsiu area permits each hunter to harvest one Brown each regulatory year, which does not count against the harvest of one (l) Brown every (4) years, like in other parts of Alaska.

Here at the Cordova area, we hunt Brown Bears April through May and September through October. My guide use area near Cordova consist of several land owners, such as Chugach National Forest Service, BLM and State of Alaska lands, in which I am fully permitted for to conduct guide hunts. This guide use area that we hunt on, permits each hunter to harvest one Brown each regulatory year, which does not count against the harvest of one (l) Brown every (4) years, like in other parts of Alaska (like Kodiak Island and Alaskan Peninsula). Here at the Tsiu River Lodge we strive to take male brown bear 9 foot or larger and have taken many bears 10 foot plus over the year with many skulls over 28 plus, with some over 29 inches. Remember, one of my goals as your professional hunter, is for you to achieve your trophy of course. But the most important goal for me as your professional hunter, is to conduct a safe, enjoyable, most of all, memorable safari adventure.

As always, we have goals, trying to achieve 6 foot or better, with an occasional 8 footer taken. Black Bear hunts are conducted 1X1 (one guide, one client) to ensure your ultimate success. But many times it’s a great starter hunt for the new young hunter to compatibility their parents or guardian. Depending on where you are hunt in the Cordova area, both client and guide are transported by the use of small aircraft the day before your hunt begins. Each Black Bear spike camp are portable and removable to assure the best possible area to hunt. Each spike camp tent are 8’X8’ or larger and are equipped with cots and heaters for your comfort. Again, Black Bear habitat varies from high covered snow peaks of their denning areas to the coastal grass areas near the coastal areas, during April, May and June. During the fall, most bears are hunted where berries are plentiful, either high up in the mountainous hillsides or low coastal areas where sometimes berries are thick.
Once your trophy is taken, and it is then tagged, skinned and peel, the meat is quartered and packed out to the extraction point. You are welcome to take your Black Bear meat back with you, and I can direct you to a local butcher in Cordova, that can process the meat for you. If you choose not to take your Black Bear meat back with you, the meat will be donated to a local elders or local charity in Cordova, never wasted. Once the Black Bear hide and skull are back at the lodge, hide is fleshed, ears, lips, nose, tail is turned and knuckles are out, it is then salted. Trophies are normally shipped from lodge to my expeditor in Anchorage, at the end of the season.

We are pleased to offer hunting for trophy Arizona pronghorn antelope. It is no secret that Arizona pronghorn antelope are managed for older-age-class bucks with good genetics. What it lacks in quantity, it makes up in quality. In Arizona hunters are limited into the field by a drawing process which eliminates over harvest. This, in effect, produces a trophy-class herd.
That is why it is not uncommon to see a sixteen-inch or larger horn on an Arizona pronghorn within the quality units. A glance in the record books will show that this state has produced some of the best antelope bucks in the world! We hunt the open country and prairies of Central to Southern Arizona, so long distance shooting is a must. It is not uncommon to take rifle shots over 300 yards on antelope. We recommend a flat shooting rifle cartridge, a good high-power riflescope and a Harris mounted bipod. The spot and stalk hunting methods are mainly used for our rifle and muzzleloader hunts. The acres your hunt will take place on are very strictly managed. South Fork hunters are required to harvest at minimum 140 inch, 3 ½ year old bucks. Having these practices in place for years has only made a good thing that much better. In addition to the doe’s that our hunters harvest, we take heard surveys that enable us to go through late season and remove doe’s in highly populated areas. As a whole – the areas you will be hunting have an excellent doe-to-buck ratio (2 or 3-to-1). Hunter to acre ratio is also very important. Low pressure is a huge part of harvesting mid-west whitetail deer. Here at South Fork, we keep ample ground for the numbers of hunters we run, with some farms not being hunted for entire seasons. This is all to ensure South Fork ground will remain the best of the best.
We take stand location very seriously. This is crucial when getting close to giant Illinois bruisers. The wind and thermals are taken into consideration on every set. The stand set ups are for stealth entry and exits. Stand location is one of the biggest keys to a successful hunt- second only to having a piece of great managed whitetail ground. All stands are set by South Fork Guides that have years of experience and the bucks to prove it! The rule of thumb we live by is “if we wouldn’t hunt it, we won’t hang it!” We are as excited to get you into the stand that we hung, as you are to be in it. It’s like we are hunting with you. Our sets consist of hang–on’s with climbing sticks (20′-25′); ladder stands (16′-20′); shooting houses (7′-10′); and assorted ground blinds. We utilize over 70+ Shadowhunter Blinds to provide our gun hunters with a comfortable and solid shooting setup. We put you up close and personal, it’s just a matter of time before a big shooter reveals himself.

Arizona offers extraordinary trophy color phase bear hunting with many record book boars harvested every year in the southwest. We primarily hunt in late summer to early fall August - November. During this time bears are very active during the day time and spend majority of their day exploring for food. Bears come in many unique color phases, black, chocolate, cinnamon, and blonde. On our hunt expect to do a great deal of glassing, walking, and hiking on spot n stalk or behind hounds, so you must be in good physical shape. These hunts offer a lot of excitement and has a very high success rate.
We use three main techniques to harvest our bears, the spot-and-stalk method, the calling method, and classic behind hounds pursuit. As our primary hunting technique, we trail behind hounds.
Our second technique is spot-n-stalk, we hike to a good glassing point where a few square miles of terrain can be seen at one time. Once a mature bear is spotted, we plan our stalk. Expect to take rifle shots across big canyons, so a bi-pod or tall standing shooting tripod, good high-power riflescope, and a big, flat-shooting caliber is highly recommended. Rifle shots on spot n stalk average 500+ yards, but be prepared for any distance (longer or shorter) if the need arrises. If you are a bowhunter, this Arizona spot and stalk bear hunt is the ultimate challenge. Rifle or hand gun shots behind hounds is 20 out to 50 yard shot placement.
As a proven third technique, we use electronic predator call and utilize hand calling. Sometimes black bears prefer to stay in the thick oak brush, dense pinon pines, tall manzantia, prickly pear slopes, and juniper thickets where they eat acorns, pinon nuts, berries, cactus fruit, or juniper berries. These areas have thicker vegetation and allow for limited glassing. If this is where the bears are located at the time of your hunt, we may use limited glassing and use a predator call. This technique is an exciting way to pull a bear out of the brush and within shooting distance.

If this is a hunt you’ve always wanted to do but have never tried, you’ve found the right place. The Gopher Plantation hog hunting guides have fine-tuned their thermal hunts to guarantee an opportunity at free-range hogs every hunt.
We conduct all of our thermal hog hunts on over 10,000 privately owned acres. We not only hunt the agricultural fields we also hunt in the woods over our feed sources and food plots. The Gopher Plantation staff plants over 200 acres of food plots for wildlife. Not only do our deer and turkey benefit from this but also our wild hog population. It’s not uncommon to find 4-6 groups of hogs on a 3-hour thermal hunt with us all while literally hunting out of our back door. You can add hours to your thermal hog hunt and increase the shooting opportunities.
If you don’t have any thermal equipment for hog hunting at night, no problem we have you covered. We have 10 guns set up with Pulsar thermal scopes and suppressors at your disposal. The guides also have 3 sets of Pulsar thermal binoculars to spot hogs throughout your hunt. We also provide shooting sticks, snacks, and a cooler with drinks so literally all you have to do is show up. The Gopher Plantation offers Whitetail Deer Hunting in Georgia on over 8,000 private owned acres that spans over diverse habitats. There are over 100 tower stands strategically located throughout the hunting property. The deer hunting stands are all equipped with metal roofs to keep rain and other elements from mother nature off the hunters during their hunt. The rifle tower stands are all equipped range from 4’x4’ to 4’x6’ in size and are approximately 10’ high to the platform. Every tower hunting stand has office chairs to ensure a comfortable sit every hunt. Most of our tower stands are 4’x6’ and these deer hunting stands are great for sharing the hunt with family or a friend.
We also have permanent and pop-up ground blinds for hunters that physically can’t climb elevated stands. Big Horn Outfitters offers excellent mule deer hunting opportunities in Wyoming Game and Fish regions: C & Y. We harvest excellent deer every year averaging between 150-165″, with many larger deer harvested each year. You can expect to see good numbers of animals and have opportunities at respectable bucks during your hunt.
For the most part, these hunts are only mildly physical and can be enjoyed by hunters of all ages and abilities. Success rates are generally 100% each year; the only hunters that haven’t harvested their deer were looking for a specific animal and simply chose not to take any others during their hunt. These deer hunts book up extremely fast, generally 2-4 years in advance, and they all require 2 or more preference points to draw the tag in Wyoming. The Montana tag is a general deer license and will currently take 1 point to draw.

Another favorite for the amazing terrain they call home. Sooty grouse are birds of the mountains. When the valley is still scorching hot in September, go high for a sooty grouse hunt. Commonly found along the edges of mountain meadows where a brush or conifer pocket meet. To some they are just a dumb bird, to target them with dogs is a totally different experience that won’t be easily topped.
We use pointing dogs that are also trained to retrieve for upland bird hunts.
